Vintage 1960s Korean mother-of-pearl lacquer box, also known as najeonchilgi inlay work. Features iridescent abalone shell scene of a scholar, cranes, pavilion, and landscape across the lid, with additional inlay details around the sides. Originally made as a gentleman’s smoking box, now ideal as a jewelry box, trinket box, keepsake storage, or Asian home decor piece. Interior includes divided compartments and original brass insert with natural patina. Glossy black lacquer and beautiful shell shimmer. Light age wear consistent with vintage condition.
