Antique Bedroom Set
Description
This bedroom set was made by my husband's grand uncle. Norman was born in 1879 and was a Foreman Carpenter and Master Woodworker for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Some time between 1920 and 1930, he made this bedroom set for his daughter, Helen, by hand. He did all of the designing, woodworking, and carving. His craftsmanship is excellent, and this bedroom set is beautiful and useful. There is a double bed head and footboard with rails, a night stand, a dresser, and a high boy dresser/desk. I do not know what type of wood it is. All pieces retain their original finish. The bed fits a double mattress and is on casters. The nightstand has two cute little shelves on the top. The taller dresser has a very useful drawer that pulls into a desk. The desk features a light he added later on. It has compartments and drawers. The bottom cupboard is lined with cedar. The other dresser has 4 drawers that lock. I do not have the key. This piece is shown without its mirror topper. I have it, and the mirror is not broken. However, the wood surrounding it is damaged. I have all the parts, and perhaps someone with some woodworking skills could fix it. The price reflects the damage. Bed: fits double mattress, 78" long x 56" wide, and the headboard is 78" tall. Nightstand: 30" wide x 15.5" deep x 37" tall at the tallest point in the back. Taller dresser: 30" wide x 17" deep x 54" tall. It has a built-in desk drawer and a cedar lined cupboard. Dresser: 38" wide x 17" deep x 54" tall. Has locking drawers no key. Does have a mirror topper with two drawers but is damaged and not shown.
